Turquoise

Of all the gemstones, turquoise is probably the one which is most closely associated with the Arts and Crafts Movement. Designers including C.R. Ashbee at the Guild of Handicrafts. Also, the great Archibald Knox for Liberty Co. Knox produced many simple and uncomplicated gold and silver pendants and necklaces These were either mounted with gem turquoise or turquoise matrix – turquoise, that is turquoise with natural veins of limonite rock left visible. Indeed, the Anglo-German firm Murrle Bennett & Co became famous for, and synonymous with turquoise matrix and gold jewellery, at the very end of the 19th century. Today turquoise matrix is produced in large and irregular shape pebble-like forms used in Navajo Indian and New Mexican silver jewellery.

Pearls are traditionally the birthstone for June.

Care of your vintage-antique pearls.

Pearls are delicate and can easily be damaged, pearl is just 2.5 on the Mohs hardness scale. They should be wrapped in silk cloth so that they do not dry out, or become scratched by other hard objects or jewellery.

Pearls absorb oils from your skin and it keeps them looking Bright, New and Lustrous! Otherwise, Pearls will Dry Out and turn an Ugly Yellow Hue!

Also, pearls are not resistant to sprays and perfumes.
