Choosing a watch, there are two main types of watch. Firstly mechanical movement, basically needs winding every day or so. Then there is mechanical but automatic winding, affected by arm and wrist movement, so if it is not on the arm it will stop working after a day or two. You could of course by an automatic electric watch winder and keep the watch wound with that.
